Data Conversion Laboratory (DCL), the leader in converting content to new formats, and Enigma, Inc., a premier provider of aftermarket service and support technology, announced a partnership to help manufacturers deliver their product information digitally including online and through mobile platforms.
Enigma’s software enables manufacturers to publish parts catalogs and service manuals to support engineers and technicians handling the maintenance and repair of their products, whether at customer sites, maintenance depots, or dealerships. The company’s solutions help these original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure that repairs are done quickly and well, and that technicians are working with the right parts. By putting up-to-date catalogs into the hands of managers and technicians, OEMs will also sell more replacement parts, add-on equipment, and new products.
DCL specializes in organizing complex technical and product content, “future proofing” it for digital publishing. The company has deep experience working with OEMs across industries, from manufacturers of automobiles to missile systems. These companies require an exceptional level of quality control when converting their content. Their documents must be extremely accurate to ensure that sophisticated equipment, such as military helicopters or MRI machines, is well-maintained, operating correctly and repaired safely.
The partnership will enable DCL and Enigma to work together to meet increased demand from OEMs for advanced product documentation solutions. DCL will organize and format manufacturers’ content for loading into Enigma’s software systems, where it will be published as a “technical library” composed of catalogs, manuals, product fact sheets, and more. DCL combines best practices in project management with proprietary software so that content is accurately converted providing full quality control in a cost efficient manner. The company has successfully migrated legacy content from any format to any format. This includes XML such as DITA and S1000D as well as all popular e-book formats.
“With the complexity of modern products increasing, technicians and engineers require a wide-range of technical content to install, operate and repair equipment. They need convenient access to manufacturer’s product information, whether from their iPads, their laptops, or their smartphones. Our partnership with DCL will enable us to be fully responsive to our customer’s needs,” said John Snow, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Enigma.
“Enigma has developed innovative solutions for delivering manufacturers’ product information. We have worked together on several implementations, and share their objective of making content available quickly and efficiently. At a time of increased demand for our joint services, we are pleased to formalize our partnership,” said Mark Gross, President and CEO, DCL.
