Doc-to-Help, developed by ComponentOne, released Doc-to-Help 2012 v2, an interim release of its bestselling authoring and publishing tool that focuses on outputs for mobile devices and the Web. The release contains significant enhancements in four key areas:
- Useful, flexible, and visually appealing outputs
- Collaboration and pain-free workflows, particularly through integration with Team Foundation Server and Microsoft SharePoint
- Ease of use
- Tight integration with Microsoft Word
Among the enhancements in this subscription release is the ability to publish eBooks with ePub output using either EPUB 3 or 2.0.1. Technical communicators can create interactive books that can be read on virtually any device (eReaders, tablets, phones, PCs, Macs, and more), by selecting and building the file.
Doc-to-Help redesigned NetHelp output in the previous release to use HTML5 and jQuery. The latest release introduces a brand new theme designer also provides this support within a new WYSIWG user interface, and also provides Theme Roller for easier updates to color schemes. NetHelp improvements also includes targeting–the ability to embed a single topic, or an entire Help system, into a web page, to allows streaming of updated content.
Technical communication teams can gather user feedback, such as commenting and ratings, and build user communities by incorporating DISQUS in NetHelp 2.0 Targets. DISQUS is an online discussion and commenting service for websites that uses a networked platform and works on all popular browsers. Doc-to-Help offers an online sample of NetHelp with DISQUS enabled. NetHelp output can also be integrated with Google Translate, and can be localized for Chinese and Japanese.
Doc-to-Help 2012 v2 incorporates an optional server-side search functional that is designed to improve the search speed of large Help systems. This option is available for NetHelp 2.0 and Mobile Help, and installs on a Web server with minimal setup. For less complex projects, users can included client-side search, which is used by default and requires no setup.
Doc-To-Help creates the latest version of the Microsoft Help Viewer, which can be integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2012. For projects requiring cloud-based solution, you can easily share your projects, outputs, or documents using Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, YouSendIt, or any cloud solution that offers a client that can be downloaded to a desktop or mobile device.
