TechSmith’s Camtasia Studio 8 Offers Professional Video Creation

TechSmith has launched Camtasia Studio 8, after completely rebuilding the screen recording and video application to maximize ease-of-use in mind. Camtasia Studio provides professional level video creation and editing tools to the education, training, marketing and sales sectors.

TechSmith reports that it “invested significantly in usability research, beta testing and user-experience design to deliver its new screen recording and video creation application, which is loaded with assets including music, animations, graphics and callouts that make any video more cohesive.” Camtasia Studio 8 users also have access to a comprehensive library of training content and free technical support.

Among the new features of Camtasia Studio 8 are interactive elements including in-video quizzing, in-video linking to web content and powerful video sharing options. With the in-video tools user can place interactive quizzes in a video a using simple text boxes The quizzing functionality allows collecting and reporting data for measuring progress and comprehension in individually or in groups, and categorize that data by in-class or online consumption, format (Flash or HTML5), and device types, such as tablets, smart phones, laptops or desktop computers. As testing is taking place, video creators receive detailed reports via email from TechSmith’s cloud service. Creators can sort the quizzing data in any spreadsheet or utilize SCORM reporting for integration with a learning management system.

Other new and redesigned features include:

Optimized for high definition, high motion screen video capture and editing. The default recording rate is doubled to capture 30 frames per second for smooth screen video capture
Edit directly on the preview window canvas for immediate look-and-feel feedback.
Multi-tracking timeline: allows for stacking and grouping of effects that can be saved and reused.
Asset Library: specialized graphic packages including themes, animations, callouts, music and graphics that can be added using drag-and-drop.
Video “hotspot” capabilities let users embed hyperlinks within any video.
